This extravagant account of the life of Tchaikovsky is disastrously overacted and and filled with wildly overstated imagery. Richard Chamberlain stars as the tortured, repressed homosexual composer. Christopher Gable is his clinging blond b. f. and Glenda Jackson, who had just won an Oscar for Women in Love, plays the composer's mad, nymphomaniac wife. The film is a costume piece, feverishly presented_ with an over blown, hilarious, phallic and symbolism-laden 1812 overture dream sequence that is totally absurd and perhaps disgusting.
