The Ladykillers

The Coen brothers are great filmakers. Why? It is simply because when they make movies, they make them for themselves, rather than for the audience. Their carefree style is very evident in the Ladykillers. After O Brother Where Art Thou I lost a bit of respect for the Coens because in my opinion that was garbage, but the Ladykillers is full of fantastic details that make the film classic Coens. It is hard to describe in words, but throughout the whole movie the scene is set to perfection and played out brilliantly by the actors. Sometimes you're sitting in your seat and you just burst out laughing at the sheer hilarity of the situation, which is so rare in todays movies. Tom Hanks gives a stellar performance in a film that will definitely have to get Best Picture nominations in a slow year for movies. Coen bros. Fans will love the Ladykillers.
