Clark Gable made a number of Westerns in his senior years, all through the 1950's. This is just slightly strange for me for, as a younger to middle-aged actor, I can't think of a single one he made. The great Raoul Walsh directs this Warner film, Clark having parted with MGM long before. Eleonor Parker is his main squeeze, but he's surrounded by a bevvy of beuties in this one. Clark was always considered THE KING OF HOLLYWOOD, but time has shown that his halo is not as bright as it once was. Stars like Humphrey Bogart and James Cagney, hardly any competition for Clark in his day as a man's man, have now become iconic figures, Bogart being chosen the # 1 greatest actor of the 20th century. How fickle life and circumstances can all be! Who would have known! The King is hardly mentioned in this day and age.
