Seemingly better than the slower-starting 'An Unexpected Journey.' Picks up a notch in excitement and character but once again at times is a little stretched out. At this point you truly feel for the characters and narratively everything continues to work with the many changes that have been made to enhance the story. I loved seeing Legolas and Tauriel get involved, there is added emotion with them added in. Occasionally, you are not quite sure who is the main character whether it is Bilbo, Thorin, Bard or even Tauriel. Once the dwarves arrive the lonely mountain, the grandeur and bulge in essence brings many similarities to the entity of The Lord of the Rings. Smaug the dragon is what makes the 2nd piece to Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy so spectacular and better.
