What can I say, it's a Sly flick! There were way too many exaggerated action sequences, pointless blood n gore scenes, macho testosterone gun fights and tough guy lines, all of which is the perfect recipie for a Friday night at the movies with your friends and an excuse to yell 'go Sly!! ' I guess when you see all the big names in this movie, you expect more but practically that's not possible because you need a back story to relate to your 'hero's' and dividing 2 hours between so many won't work. For what it's worth, Eric Roberts is still tops at playing a mean bad guy and Arnold did a pretty slick job as Sly's competition. Bruce Willis owned his scene and delivered in just a couple of minutes. Enjoy 'the expendables' it's a fun ride if you give it a chance!
