My wife and I both felt it was overall disappointing. Now that is mainly because it is following 2 very well executed films that set the bar pretty high. You know expectations were going to be astronomical for this one! Now all of the pieces were in place for a runaway success, but what killed it for us is either poor editing or poor directing decisions, not sure which. Here's our beef: while suspense is building, there were many instances where the flow of the movie gets killed by something silly or out of place. It was rather frustrating actually because the rest of the elements were all terrific: camera work, sound, acting, music, plot/storyline, staging, etc. I don't just mean good, I mean excellent. Then you get some foolishness which is too hard to swallow and makes you think "huh? Did I just see that?". For example: there are 12 hours left until Gotham is blown to bits and the masked crusader takes the time to paint a trail of flammable liquid up into the rafters of the bridge to trace out his trademark logo. Really? How long would that take? To boot, he conveniently places a flare at the exact location where the sentenced Commissioner walks the plank so to speak and appears (on thin ice) not to save him or the others but to say "light it up" in his gravelly voice. No. Just no. Then 2 minutes left until the bomb detonates, he decides to have small talk with Catwoman and share a kiss so he can find the courage to fake his death by somehow escaping the 6 mile blast radius and subsequent radiation. In under 2 minutes. Now it doesn't help that I am an engineer and I expect some level of realism in terms of physical constants like time and distance, and I am willing to allow plenty of wiggle room for movieland. It's just that sometimes it's too much. Oh wait, there's a vertical pit wall to climb to escape the prison in an unknown desert in some foreign land and nobody is smart enough to build a makeshift ladder from one ledge to the other? They have ropes, etc. but nobody could think of breaking one of the metal railings I saw to this end? You mean to tell me that jumping with no rope to psychologically overcome the feat due to the increased fear of death to propel you is the only way across? Please. And the army is guarding the city's bridges but the Batman appears at the right time to chit chat with Ms. Kyle as the falling snow indicates below freezing temperatures but you can't see their breath when they talk? Wait, there is a war between Bane's army of criminals and the emaciated police force who each have guns though hopelessly outgunned thanks to batman's plundered arsenal now controlled by the bad guys. They all decide to resort to fist-fighting on the steps of Wayne Enterprises (?) instead. Batman only decides to use his EM pulse cannon once at the last minute to prevent the humvees from obliterating the police (because the machine guns can't) No mention of the plethora of other weapons his nifty chopper is equipped with? There are MANY such unlikely circumstances and the villains and heroes seem to defy time and space to appear in the nick of time to either eliminate hope or save the day. Another thing which badly detracted from the film is how the scenes were put together. I suspect bad editing as the scenes themselves were just as good as the previous 2 movies but often were too short for the viewer to build any feel for the characters and any sense of depth gets lost. Now maybe all of this was intentional to create a more comic-book feel, I can't say and admittedly I never came across the comics which included Bane, so maybe it is true to the original story. I will say that this film did not come across very well and.

Lol. Good stuff... and another thing- after 90 days being underground wouldn't the cops have a bit of stubble... ? And another thing... Once batman escapes the cave (even though he started the movie with advanced arthritis and no cartilage in his knees).. he runs barefoot across that desert without a compass or adequate water supplies to arrive in Gotham within a few hours... But at least he was smart enough to hide his helicopter on a great gravel roof with DESERT camouflage... lol.

What drove me crazy was setting up the character with a cane and a visit to the hospital to emphasize how battered and broken his body is. Then he puts one thing around his knee and his entire body is perfectly fine? I also didn't realize that push-ups and sit-ups fix a broken back so that you can leap through the air further than any number of people. Like you, I can also suspend some disbelief for movies, but this kind of lost me - especially since so much of these movies is about the gritty realism of the world.
