Wow... possibly the scariest movie I've seen in years. Definitely sent chills down my spine, but immensely clever and entertaining as well. This was a good depiction of one family's allegedly true experience, dealing with demonic forces. Very nice build-up of tension and scares throughout this film, even though it was rather slow getting started in the beginning. Special effects were startling and effective, as well as great use of sound and lighting. The musical score was very good and appropriately fitting. Delivery of the story was great, kept my full attention. I'll admit there were times during the movie that I felt my adrenaline kicking in. You couldn't help but be in a constant state of anticipation, not knowing what was going to happen next. One scene in particular, made me almost jump out of my skin. Aside from that," The Conjuring" is well directed, with a good selection of actors. Each one knew their parts and played them well. I especially liked Vera Farmiga as Lorraine Warren. She's such a talented actress, very pretty too. Speaking of which, I found Ed and Lorraine Warren's story to be particularly interesting, and their connection to the Perron case. This film seemed to illustrate their willingness and determination to help the Perron's rid their home of the evil which tormented them, and who were genuinely concerned for their well-being. Also, I agree by some of the other reviews I've read... this feels like a mixture between "The Exorcist"," Poltergeist"," Amityville", and even a bit of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds", sweet!" However, after seeing this picture, it got me thinking about the supernatural. It does make you question that there are just some things in this world that defy explanation... things that go beyond human understanding. Whether or not you believe, is your prerogative. Overall," The Conjuring" makes for one heck of a good ride. Go see it, but leave the lights on when you go to sleep tonight. Enjoy!
