For a film about that deals with depression, it failed to capture its authenticity. Despite Mel's effort in his character, I didn't feel it. It was a bit boring at times. Disappointed as I often enjoy both Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster films.

Your review is dead on correct. I too couldn't connect with any meaningful motivation driving the Gibson character's depression. A weak movie that uses a large degree of 'quirkiness' to disguise this fact.
