The Barber with Scott Glenn is a psychological thriller of sorts with a premise that is a bit more refreshing than the usual load of crap we get from this genre. It can be an unsettling film as it deals with a family situation, specifically a father and son. GLENN is the suspected serial killer. His detective father is searching for the monster. This gives nothing away as we know of the situation early on. To me that is not the crux of the story, in any case. It is a feature that probes more into morals and morality and the right thing to do when family ties come into play.
A question I have. Can a father convict a member of his own family of ruthless slayings? To me it seems the same matter that a WIFE cannot testify against her own husband, even if guilty as sin! If anyone has an answer, let me know or I will ultimately do a google search. The film is more original than most crime thrillers, but a little something is missing to make it a great film.
