As Terminator movies go, this one is right down the middle. "Safe" would be a good word to describe it. It does just enough of everything to earn a decent score but falls short of the mark to achieve the big results. That would have required more risk and innovation in both the storyline and tone. As a PG13 film, it panders to a much wider audience but alienates, or at least fails to impress, the more hard core fans who would rather see the grittiness of Terminator Salvation coupled with the darker tone of the original 1984 film. Genisys plays it safe - there's something for everyone. A little humour here, some special effects there, some clever innovation. In the end the product is acceptable and enjoyable if far from earth-shattering. The casting is generally appropriate, with the exception of Clarke as Sarah Connor, who can't match the lithe physique of Linda Hamilton in T2. Perhaps she will grow into the role. I must say, it's nice to Arnold back on the big screen, and that alone is worth the price of admission.
