For Kimberly Peirce this is her second big release. From the start you can tell that this movie will take you places you didn't expect. While the story itself doesn't quite climax like i'd like it to it definitely tells a side of things not commonly seen and to which there is not much attention. For that, the movie passes with flying colors. While Ryan Philippe is an excellent actor by any standard, there is still something missing in either the performance or the script which I couldn't quite make out. Either way, the movie isn't for the faint of heart.
