State of Play

I hadn't seen a movie in a while, and I certainly chose the right movie to see!! This is a great drama with good twists, great intrigue, solid acting, and a very decent storyline. Russell Crowe delivers another endearing performance. Ben Affleck does a convincing job in his role as the troubled politician. Rachel McAdams is, well, Rachel McAdams... she plays pretty much the exact same role, maybe the only role she can play. Helen Mirren shines in the few scenes in which she appears. But the performance that earns the most kudos from me is yet again Jason Bateman. This guy is such a solid supporting character! Robin Wright Penn also makes a good turn! And Jeff Daniels also delivers the goods! A great ensemble performance! For a movie that is pretty much 2 hours long, it keeps you interested and doesn't have any dragging parts. Some people may see some of the twists coming, but all in all you must admit that this is a very entertaining movie. And that's what going to the movies is all about. 8/10, great movie, don't miss it. It may just be the one great big movie before the Summer Blockbuster season starts in May.
