Best way to kill a film is over-advertising it (to death) for months even years before its release. This was the case with this Star Wars which was only mediocre fare. The cast did not particularly interest me except for Oscar Isaac to an extent. And it was a shoddy affair if one wants to get into the nitty gritty of the old timers, Adam Driver's Kylo Ren was disappointing as I know him as a comedic actor from many independent movies and could't stand to see him as the villain. It didn't work for me. I had higher hopes of J. J. Abrams, but I suppose there was a lot of interference from the studio, namely Disney, the wrong studio to be producing such an anticipated feature. It's made the really big bucks, but that hardly translates into a truly worthwhile film.

I was very curious about your low rating of this film. I myself truly enjoyed it. I am not a crazy Star Wars fan but am a fan of the franchise. The original Trilogy is a childhood favorite of mine (I am 37) and though I was excited about the prequels, I was dissappointed with those installments. Episode VII I felt really hit the mark. I hit all the prerequisite cues (that the hardcore comicon fan base needs) but still delivered a decent movie. The villain is complex and troubled, the new heroes are original and refreshing... I just don't see how this movie could be rated a 2... I myself gave it an 8, and understand how some may give it anywhere from 6-9... but 2? In my mind a 2 would be one of the worst possible movies to hit the screen. A 1 would be a movie that no other movie could be worse than... only as bad.
