Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens

Click here to show this review. The Force Awakens starts 30 years after the Return of the Jedi. The Galactic Empire being dismantled after the death of the Emperor and Darth Vader, we are thrown into a new regime that comes from the ashes of its predecessor The First Order. I had some gripes with how the First Order was introduced, without any backstory showing us the bridge between the Galactic empire and itself. That aside, what this movie does best is introducing us to two new sides of the force, both children of Skywalkers. In this sense, the movie does more to prequel to apocalyptic battle than firmly establish it. As Rey becomes more acquainted with her powers, the movie gets interesting yet she has no formal training in the force until the very end when she meets her father. All in all, this movie did more to excite me for what may come, than really make me feel that greatness had been achieved. It is worth your time and a valiant effort, especially with newcomer Daisy Ridley that does quite a job in this picture. She is the star of the show along with Adam Driver who embodies the future of the Dark Side so well.
