This has to be one of the great comic books translated to the big screen. It is a moral quagmire where priests, politicians and police are represented as corrupt and evil. Prostitutes, drunks the homeless and characters on the fringe of society are represented as victims. Visually this film is a masterpiece in the way comic-book pulp-fiction film-noir universe is realised on screen. The images burn with intensity off the screen and is the best example of translation from comic-book to cinema. This is Rodriguez's best film to date.
