Saw this film at the festival in September. Well drawn characters that you care about and good performances from the three leads. I found the Steve Martin character a little too "white knightish" to be plausible, possibly because Steve based him on his own similar experience and was reluctant to do a 'warts and all' treatment of something so close to the bone. Clare Danes fully inhabits her character and Jason Schartzman is very funny. Just as Woody Allen prefers to romanticize New York, so does Steve Martin apply a glossy veneer to L. A. The bittersweet ending is satisfying. And for the gals, if you like to see a lot of dresses, this flick is for you. Overall a charming film.
