    Sense and Sensibility

Eye-popping period piece based on Jane Austen's novel, the first film Ang Lee directed in the English language to great acclaim. Emma Thompson stars and wrote the script for this Austen adaptation for which she won an Oscar. Kate Winslet received her first Oscar Nomination in the Best Supporting category. The remaining women are beautifully cast as are the men, especially the late Alan Rickman.
