I think "Safe House" is by far the best action thriller that I've seen in a long time. It's a slick, smart movie with strong performances and direction. The story however, feels a little familiar as it plays out like one of the "Bourne" films, but needless to say it's absorbing and entertaining at that. As events unfold, you can almost predict what will happen next, though there are a few unexpected twists you don't see coming. What really makes this picture exciting and helps propel it along, is the wild non-stop action. It just never lets up from start to finish. I found the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat... it was definitely quite the ride. There are a lot of eye- popping fight scenes throughout this flick which are well done and the interaction is fairly good too. I must admit there are some very intense shoot-outs that will almost stun you but it adds to the thrill. Denzel Washington undoubtedly makes for a good renegade, and his performance is nothing short of amazing. I also have to say Ryan Reynolds is a well rounded actor. He can play comedy and drama flawlessly. I thought he did an exceptional job with portraying a tough guy. I found too that Denzel and Ryan worked very well together in this film. It was obvious that you could see there was great on-screen chemistry between them. It would've been good to see a little more dialogue between these actors though, but that's okay. The other thing that grew on me was the theme song for "Safe House" by Kanye West & Jay-Z titled, "No Church In The Wild" which I thought was pretty cool. Overall, this is a great movie, well worth the admission and your time. Get out to see it now.
