Disappointing attempt to bring the book's humour to the big screen. There wasn't one single laugh in the movie that wasn't in the trailer. Rookie directing errors left parts of the film feeling clunky and unfinished (count how many times a classic rock tune falls awkwardly out of nowhere to begin a weak musical montage, when the director can't figure out how to transition between scenes) Interesting performances, though, by Annette Bening and Jill Clayburgh..
