    Religulous

My only complaint is that Maher didn't have enough time to deal in equal measure with the other so-called mainstream religions. This really should be the seed for an in-depth series on the topic of how silly belief in an imaginary friend who runs the universe really is. In this film, the topic of religiousness is treated with the respect it deserves: none. This is a funny movie, not a documentary, but even so, it is highly thought provoking. Now... before some of you trolls come slinging your venomous rhetoric and threatening me with eternal damnation, remember this: One quarter of the population of Canada, (and growing) does not believe in god. That's a whole lot of people who realise that we don't need imaginary [...] threatening us with eternal agony in the lake of fire in order to behave, nor do we need the promise of la-la land in the next life in order to warrant being a decent human being in THIS life. Face it, religion is funny, and Maher shows it for what it is. Talking snakes?! Talking donkeys?! Virgin births?! Hilarious!! Maher simply provides us with a bit of a laugh at religion's expense. How refreshing!! And if your favourite god must be vehemently and bombastically defended from mere mortal freethinking rationalists, well that ain't much of a god, is it?!!

What you are reacting to is a thought in your head, and that's it. There is no God, are you absolutely sure of that? Is that your truth, or 'the truth'? Where this response to what you have written is decidedly venom free, I would look to yourself, as to where the real poison is being projected from. I am not religious by any stretch of the imagination, nor am I spiritual; I am merely me, who knows the truth of himself from my own experience, no gleaned from dogma, or external opinion such as yours. Know thyself, and then speak from that place, because, frankly, your ignorance is showing, and it's embarrassing to witness.
