This is not an easy movie to rate. It totally depends on if you like this genre or not. I went into this movie totally expecting it to be just like previous Rambo movies... cheezy one-liners, unrealistic action, and tons of violence and gore. And I got just that. So it delivered, growth-hormone-enhanced Sly Stallone and all!!! So if you are a fan of the genre, it is a great movie, and you should not miss it! Stallone takes us right into the heart of a human rights massacre in Burma, and really shows us the atrocities that are going on there. So kudos to him for bringing to the forefront of his script something real, something tangible, and being able to get it done the way he wanted it done: gory, realistic, and gut-wrenching. His acting may be less than stellar. Then again, I have seen way worse from A List actor that still get +20 mil a picture for total duds! I was quite happy to see Julie Benz (the amazing Rita in Dexter) get 2nd billing after Sly. Good for her. Her performance is nowhere near the depth and magnitude of what she delivers on Dexter, but it's still great to see her! WARNING: I had heard that this movie had a very high body count and an even higher gore factor. I was still shocked by some of the scenes I saw. So if brutal killings is not your thing, stay away from this one. It clocks in at just over 90 minutes, so the pace is great. There isn't one dragging part in it. So kudos again to Sly for putting together a very decent action movie. Like Rocky Balboa, Rambo (at some point this one was going to be called John Rambo, but it somehow just became Rambo again) is a great ending to a good series. It may not be as good as the original (First Blood), but I consider it better than parts 2 and 3. For what it is, it deserves an 8/10 in my book. You definitely get your monies worth. PS: Take it easy on the munchies, as some of the scenes are a little hard on the old stomach!!!
