This story of a suburban couple has some interesting points, and could probably be re-written to make it more contemporary. Some points are great, particularly the relationship between the married couple (Newman and Woodward) The problems they face trying to get time alone together is as true today as it ever was. Also the amorous neighbour and the problems she stirs up work well. The whole military base part of the story is weak and comes across as silly. The NIMBY nature of the plot could work in a re-write, however. I found the direction a little lacking, particularly in the male characters, which came across as more wooden than Woodward and Collins did.
