RAISING HELEN is not a masterpiece that can change the state of cinematography, however, the director GARY (Pretty Woman) MARSHALL once again hands over to the audience a film that is worth the price of admission. The children in the film are perfectly suited actors with strong characters (not just annoying backdrops) This film may easily be mistaken as a summer chick flick. It is not. You’ll spend an interesting 130 minutes laughing and getting attached to the characters in this film. JOAN CUSSAK delivers a great controlled supporting performance and KATE HUDSON is as cute, sweet and as perfectly comedic as her mother (GOLDIE HAWN) during her prime.
