Pan is a film I will dismiss no matter that everyone seems to love it. My main beef is that the feature is full of almost everything we've seen before. Think of such films as the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, parts of Avatar to name only two. Hook is a Han Solo type with an Indiana Jones hat; Peter is given a Potter like messiah complex; Bluebeard rules over a dirty hell hole swarming with enslaved children, a place we've seen a hundred times before... The dominant emotion in PAN is the desperation of the filmmakers who frantically try to pander to a young audience they don't seem to respect, understand or trust.
