    Oliver Twist

This 1922 Frank Lloyd film of Oliver Twist starring great child star Jackie Coogan is fairly simple to follow even in this silent version as the plot is so well known. Don't expect anything near the perfection of David Lean's Oliver Twist masterpiece from the forties. As with most silent films, Oliver Twist is a curiosity piece that holds up nicely considering that it is 92 years old. Recommended as a Dickens classic and to see the brilliance of young Coogan as he lit up the silent screen, arguably the first great child star.
