Nymphomaniac. Vol 1 is hardly what I expected, though, in truth, I had no idea how the subject would be handled. If one is looking for cheap thrills, you'd better go elsewhere. This is a very serious look at sex in its rawest form devoid of ALMOST anything else. Charlotte Gainsborough whom I admire a great deal, an actor who takes on roles that require tremendous risk is so true and truthful. T's quite surprising the amount of material one can absorb from this film aside from the very physical act of sex. Von Trier makes sure of that. However, in all good conscious, despite the good things I have pointed out, I can't say I became addicted to the film, as I do with many films which bring me a level of euphoria.
