This film looks great, is very well acted, has just enough suspense to keep you interested, and has the best villain I've seen in a looong time; reminiscent of Alan Arkin in "Wait Until Dark" (1967) However... by the end of the movie, only about one third of the issues is resolved. It's a highly disappointing ending that made me feel that the two hours I'd spent being invested in the story were thrown away by the very thing I was paying attention to: the film! I'm sittign here wondering why they would make a mystery movie without a (complete) conclusion?

Let me know what you're confused about and what you think is not resolved and I'll explain it. Think of it as a film about people that are waiting and expecting something to happen and then get blindsided by something they couldn't predict.

Why did they write a mystery movie without an ending?.. Maybe because it's a mystery? Gotta think like a Coen - pure brilliance.

(ATTENTION: This comment reveals content of the movie.) Thanks for the offer. One thing that's left unresolved is the money. Who has it at the film's end? Llewelyn was killed for it, so he doesn't have it, and Anton doesn't have it because if he did, he'd have it with him while walking away from his car crash. Another thing is Anton himself. He walks (okay, limps) away free at the end of the movie but Ed is still looking for him, though there's a hint that death is quickly coming his way (the dream) So is Anton caught? What about the Mexicans? They must still be looking for the money. Will they go after Anton? How will they find it when no one knows who has it and the tracking device was descarded? There is a scene where Ed goes to the motel room where Moss was murdered. He sits on the end of the bed and spots a dime on the carpet and the cover from the vent has been removed. The same was Anton removed the vent cover in the first motel room. I assume that Anton still has the money. Ed is no longer looking for him because he has retired. That is what the scene with him and his wife is all about at the end. What is he going to do with all of his free time. The mexicans might still be looking for Anton and there's a good chance he'll get killed for the money. That's what the car crash and the film was all about. Looking for what's coming and then never expecting what actually does. Ie. Moss is waiting for Anton and gets killed by the Mexicans. Mexicans in first motel scene are waiting for Moss and they get killed by Anton. Ed is waiting for God to come into his life - his words from discussion with his uncle - and gets... Anton. Watch the movie again and REALLY listen to what everyone is saying and pay attention. There is no wasted dialog or action. People are upset because they actually had to think about a film for a change. Oh, and the ending: most people were waiting for or expecting a big showdown between moss and Anton but just like the characters in the film they never saw what was coming, with the final scene cutting off kinda like a car crash.
