    Mystic River

This movie is a psychological drama and a study of characters laced with a whodunnit. The whodunnit part is not what is driving this movie to the top of the ladder though. It is so rich in so many aspects that it's almost impossible to pigeonhole it in a genre. Even the last 5 minutes, from the speech of Laura Linney to the hand gesture of Kevin Bacon towards Shawn Penn, are full of philosophical meaning. This is not an easy film. But it is a must-see film.
