I expected this movie to be primarily about the crusade for gay rights (something I support) But there was WAY too much kissing, sexual content and gay flirtatious behaviour. I generally have no problem with those things (they made my stomach turn a little) but as a heterosexual male, I simply could not relate any more than I could relate to Bridget Jone's Diary. I was so bored I walked out after an hour. I think I will have to support gay rights from afar.

It is odd because how do you think homosexuals feel? There are movies out there, like "American Pie", which feature nothing but over-the-top heterosexual men practically drooling over half naked women and making non-stop sexual jokes ect. Yet, we deal with it and we do not really complain about it. But a movie has a some man on man kissing and you have to leave because "you can not relate? ". I find it very interesting how society has placed a certain "hotness" to women on women action; and the complete opposite to men on men action.
As a woman, I enjoyed the man on man hotness. Bring on more man/man action (especially with James Franco and especially when it is so well done)!
Yes, biology is a complicated thing when people can only relate to certain pairings between members of the species over others. Is that so terrible or offensive? But it looks like you agree with me if you're saying homosexuals have problems watching American Pie because it features primarily heterosexual behaviour. But I never said I was offended by anything in the movie Milk and that's the important point. I do however take offense at the notion that I can't express my personal preferences of what I can and can't relate to based on my own biology. Since when did combating homophobia require people to get excited watching two men doing it?
It's a MOVIE, not real life. You don't have to be arouse by men on men action; to appreciate a film. I'm (very) gay and I was moved by tons of hetero love & romance on screen from Annie Hall to Titanic, from Love Story to Notting Hill! Because their good stories, well directed and weel acted. Get over it, put the biology aside; just relax and enjoy the movie!
Oh brother. Important political figures can't have love lives? Or they shouldn't portray this in a film about their LIVES? Sounds a little too: "Don't ask, don't tell" to me.
