The cinematogrpahy was great, the acting good and the historical context interesting. However the overall narrative was disjointed and key characters seemed undeveloped despite the almost 3 hour length. The magic realism did not come across well. Maybe rushdie shouldn't have been the one to adapt the novel, maybe mehta's direction was the issue. I'm not sure but it was disappointing for me.
