Michael Mann really missed the boat on this horrendous film based on the wickedly entertaining television series. Since he is also the writer, the blame rests all on his shoulders. If Mann had stuck to his basic premise there could have been some chance of success. Nothing in this film has been enhanced from the former tele series. The film tries to be too many things for too many people, trying to appeal to women with the romance and then staging a conclusion to win back the men. It's a mess from start to finish. Imagine the millions wasted on this total bomb!

Felt like I got kicked in the nuts. But there were a couple of nice cars. Should've been called "Hot Miami Mullet Love Story"

I expected more, considering the cast... Not bad for a rental.

After seeing Michael Mann's COLLATERAL--which was an absolutely terrific thriller and crime drama--I was quite excited to hear that he was collaborating again with Jamie Foxx on MIAMI VICE. I was further thrilled to hear that the director wanted to use the movie to explore the loss of identity when going too deep undercover. Unfortunately, the movie failed in its execution, providing us with a very lightweight story that would have been adequate had it been made for the original TV series, but is simply not as rewarding or 'big' as it should be for a big budget feature. Farrell and Foxx are good but the rather thin script fails to give them much to do other than brood and look grim for the better part of the film. John Ortiz comes off quite well as the villainous Jose Yero, making him a worthy adversary for Tubbs and Crockett. Gong Li's casting, however, was a complete mystery to me; her concern over not tripping over her dialogue was evidenced by her stronger performance during non-speaking scenes. Mann really should have gone with an actress who was comfortable with English and Spanish rather than someone who was just learning the languages. Overall, MIAMI VICE is not the disaster that some critics claim it is, but it definitely pales in comparison to some of Mann's earlier work. For better movies of this type, check out COLLATERAL or HEAT.

Should have been renamed "Mumbles Vice". Could not tell what anyone was saying for most of the show. This coupled with mostly dark scenes, and a poor storyline, made this movie at total disappointment, even as a rental.

For those who remember the tv series, this movie has the same feel about it. Good action but not from start to finish. Even when the action isn't going still tough not to get into it.

Better than expected, pretty decent shoot out near the end, the middle dragged a little bit.

If you werent a fan of the Original Miami Vice then you will be disappointed, it's a different kind of Cop drama and Hollywood production. I liked it alot because the abstract real-time like nature of the cinematography. The boat scenes are awesome. I saw it once and would buy it because of its style.

I'm very disappointed about this movie... expected so much more... it had so much more potential... but it's really not worth the time. The scenes are just weird sometimes... I had to fast forward through some of the scenes cuz I was getting really bored. And Colin Farrell look really weird and they do NOT look like cops whatsoever... it's that texan american cowboy crap that everyone's sick of seeing... I'm really disappointed...

It's unfathomable that millions of dollars were spent on bad scriptwriting, filming, terrible acting, bad accents, bad casting, bad camera angles... how did they find a company to distribute this movie? I saw it at the dollar cinema and let me tell you that I felt is if I should be paid to having had to sit through two hours of agony. Forget the money I spent these are two hours (that I could have spent drilling my eyes with a rusty nail) that I will never get back.

Very boring movie. I caught myself nodding off a lot during the movie. They could have cut out a lot of the slow spots and it wouldn't have affected the story line at all. The final gun battle was the most disappointing. You knew it was coming and I laughed when I saw it. The sounds were pathetic, the guns sounded like cap guns and the acting during the final fight was just as pathetic. Rent it, but my advice is wait until it goes to old releases and get it for 1.99 rental.
