The weak point with this film is the "one joke" screenplay. The principal joke played over two hours is the family name of FOCKER. When you are 14, the joke may be very funny but it is only mildly amusing when you've passed puberty. For the typical adult spectators the film wears thin as the joke drags on over two hours. Thank God for the cast, DeNiro & Hoffman are both great. Streisand is interesting. The Academy Award winning cast make do to to keep this jumbled script afloat. As we were viewing the film, I could not help but think I had just been conned by a Hollywood marketing department to plunk down $30.00 & observe a blatant 2-hour big screen rip-off of TV's "DHARMA & GREG". I guess we weren't the only gullible spectators as this film raked as the big box office winner over the 2004 holiday season. You should save your cash and wait to see this feature on DVD format in the spring. No need to truly view this one on the big screen unless you feel compelled to witness the magnification of the facial wrinkles on Streisand.
