I saw the play a while ago and wasn't impressed -all the ethnocentric humor seemed contrived. Yet I was pleasantly surprised by the movie adaptation. First of all the cast was very well chosen, expecially the lead actor who plays Angelo. And the world of Little Italy is simply transfigured - kitsh to death and yet not enough to make us cringe. Finally the director, Emile Gaudrault, gave us a movie with homosexual characters without turning it into a treatise about homosexuality. Refreshing!
