Edward G, Robinson is like a bolt of lightening in this very serious, visceral crime drama of a possibly deranged, lunatic. The violence is really over the top because Hollywood had still not come out with the Hayes Office of censoring films. Later such films were not nearly as violent and disturbing due to the strict censorship imposed on Hollywood. In any case, Robinson created a sensation in this crime drama that had no limits to anything including a violence that is possibly more violent than many, many films of the genre to come. It is truly just too crazed and over the top, thus my score of 6 which many film goers would rate higher.
