FRANCOIS TRUFFAUT'S 1976 so-called comedy " L'Argent de Poche " translates precisely as Pocket Money. The Title had to be changed for North America as there was a Paul Newman film with that name. Hence the title became SMALL CHANGE. The entire action takes place in Thiers, France where we witness a lot of nonsense about children: getting a haircut, going to a cinema for a date, school activities and any number of daily routines that children go through. Yet amidst all this is a boy and his abusive home life. It all struck me very odd and I'm still scratching my head as to why the introduction of an abusive home situation midst other children's activities would be labelled or considered a COMEDY! A Truffaut film I did not appreciate or like! Did I miss something about this apparent classic film?
