    King of California

Seeing Michael Douglas play such an off-the-wall character was certainly a welcome change from his clean-cut roles. It reminded me of a mixture between his excellent role in "Falling Down" and Robin Williams' character in "The Fisher King". Evan Rachel Wood is also quite good as his daughter who had to learn to survive without him, and now must learn to live (and survive) with him!!! Although it was light-hearted and cooky at times, it also gets quite serious, and the combination of the two makes it hard to qualify as a comedy, a drama, or even as a dramedy. It's that confusion that made it hard for me to really enjoy it all the way through. It's a movie about a quest (must like The Fisher King), and that aspect of it was quite good, albeit a little far-fetched. I just think it would have benefited from making up its mind as to what kind of movie it wanted to be, and then sticking to that commitment. 6/10. Not bad but definitely could have been much better.
