Jersey Boys

I must say I quite enjoyed Jersey Boys, and I'm thrilled to have seen it. Don't let some critics who didn't care for the movie dissuade you. Clint Eastwood’s film adaptation of the Broadway musical, Jersey Boys, is poignant, moving, resonates energy, and is very entertaining and fun to watch. It tells the rags-to-riches story of four blue-collar kids who rose to heights of international pop-stardom, and became music legends overnight. Didn't really know that much before about the life of Frankie Valli, but his story is one of intrigue... living the American dream, the price of fame and fortune, and the trials and tribulations of life. Aside from that, there are some pretty solid performances in this movie. John Lloyd Young was astounding in his portrayal and voice as Frankie Valli. Christopher Walken as mob boss, Gyp DeCarlo is outstanding in his role too. The rest of the cast is great. The character narrations too are a nice touch, and the dialogue is both gripping and witty. Mind you there’s lots of rough, foul language with occasional bursts of violence, and some suggestive undertones, so some might find it offensive. No... definitely not a movie recommended for children under 12. Though the best thing of all about Jersey Boys undoubtedly is the music. The many lively, upbeat scenes, and the buoyancy of the songs will most assuredly have you singing and rocking in your seat. The astonishing melodies of the group knocked my socks off. They did a lot of the biggest hits performed by The Four Seasons. Also, I very much felt the 60’s era from this picture... sets, props, costumes and hair... all excellent. Overall, Jersey Boys is a feel-good experience, and the perfect summer film to see. Not just for baby boomers, but for those who simply love what their parents and grandparents grew up listening to.
