A brilliant depression era film by Hector Babenko that sees both Jack Nicholson and Meryl Louise Streep in very top form each earning Oscar Nominations. Again it is unbelievable the transformation we get in Streep. This is not an easy film and would take a great deal of guts to watch it to its conclusion. I suppose, even in seeing the feature, it still is an enigma as to how people got through that horrible depression of the 1930's. Harrowing.
