This movie failed to deliver on the guaranteed thrills it promised. I am less than satisfied for several reasons. The acting was subpar: Downey Jr., Cheadle, Rourke, Paltrow, Johansson, and even Rockwell just did not pull off good performances (thank God for Jon Favreau) The realism was off: several scenes were packed with logical mistakes and even just plain bad editing (race track scene, Rourke jail scne, Johansson fight scene, just to name 3 big flawed scenes) The overall storyline flow was disappointing, choppy, like it was quickly written. Am I being too tough on a comic book movie? I don't think so. I just expected a much more polished final product with much better acting and a more solid flow and progression. 6/10, not bad, but definitely could have been much better. And I expect a lot of people will disagree with me, which is ok. We are all entitled to our opinions!!!

I'm not disputing your comments or your score. But as pale as the storyline was, it did seem to flow along smoothly without too many side stories. For this genre of movies most people want to see things blow up good as John Candy would say. This one wasn't over the top but had good CGI stuff. I am curious about the flawed scenes that you mention. Perhaps you can respond to that in here. It will be buried so few will read it besides you and me. I know the jail break was very odd in its execution and its logic. If he had so much help then why not simply walk out? Good review by the way.
Thanks for the comments! Always appreciate hearing from other movie fans. You are right about the storyline not having too many side stories. Agree with your take on the jail break scene. Don't want to get into too many details via this forum. The race track scene had several flaws including race continuing at full speed several minutes after tv coverage captures the carnage going on (there would have been an immediate caution flag and all racers would have slowed down), as well as bad CGI and sequence edits. Johansson's fight scene when entering Hammer building with Favreau was very poorly done. Nowadays, there is no excuse to not have a better more clean and realistic fight scene that only involves people as opposed to this CGI-enhanced clunker of a scene. When Iron Man flies away from the expo and attempts to avoid being shot by the chasing droids, he keeps flying back toward the pavillion and all the innocent people, as the droids pepper (no pun!) the pavillion with bullets. Also, when the droids first shoot the glass roof and it shatters down toward the people, well, that would have resulted in a bloody body count. To name a few!
I hear you. The next thing you'll say is that the bad guys can't shoot straight... Of course the big faux pas was his black friend who has no "replacement heart" slips into the iron suit and it functions perfectly... Maybe he had the Windows version.
Ha Ha! Good one!! I'd even say the Windows version without the bugs!!!
