The idea behind it all was intriguing, and after witnessing the horror of Transformers 3, I was almost convinced of never going back to the cinemas again. However, Horrible Bosses had too much of a funny premise with incredibly funny actors such as Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, and especially Colin Ferrel that I just had to go see. Hoping this would be the number 1 comedy of the summer, which should've been The Hangover Part 2, it sadly doesn't exceed my expectations. Yes, it made me laugh my ass off sometimes, yet the film was too simplistic for what the whole premise was, and didn't push the limit so audiences could captivated by both its humour and violence. The humour was there, but the violence needed to be pushed because this is an R-rated film, and since it's an R-rated film it has the opportunity to disgust us with blood and guts. The film is about "killing your horrible bosses!" This shouldn't be a walk in the playground, and get out easy, it should be a walk in the gas chamber, and get out bloodied up. Not be women-slapped in the face, but be torn into pieces to the most graphic extent. On the other hand, the bosses were portrayed unevenly in the film as Kevin Spacey was the main focus between all three bosses, Colin Ferrel was [...] hilarious but unnecessarily had his screen time cut short, and the [...] character of Jennifer Aniston, who was the most useless character in the film by far, and seemed as if she wasn't even a target to kill sometimes [...] More gunfire, and more blood would've balanced out the humour in the film, and horrible bosses could easily ranked from a 7.5-8.5/10. However, we're left with the humour weighing to the absolute max, leaving the violence sky-rocket high to the complete minimum. Disappointing, and forgettable, however the laughs were not.
