People complain that Voldemort wasn't even seen in "Half-Blood Prince." Well, he didn't have to be. The point of the film is that Voldemort is trying to rid of Dumbledore because he is the only one that stands between him and Harry Potter. "When Dumbledore's around, Harry can't be touched." With Dumbledore dead, Hogwarts is unsafe, and so is Harry. We don't see Voldemort because he orders people who go to Hogwarts to organize a way to kill Dumbledore, so then Voldemort can step up and kill Harry himself. It comes down to the Half-Blood Prince in the end. This is a wonderful Harry Potter film, and from my mind, David Yates delivers the best one of the series. It's worthy of 9/10 because everything that makes a Harry Potter movie work is in the sixth film. We have the relationship conflicts within the school, we have a mystery story on the side, we see both sides of the equation both evil, and good and we also see the conflicts of the evil and good characters as well. There's quidditch, there's classes, and there's a threat. The point of the story is that we follow Harry around, and whenever Harry is at school, he is safe, but not from those who are trying to kill Dumbledore. Then when Harry leaves the school, he is far from safe as he is almost killed by Death Eaters. Hogwarts is the only safe place for Harry, and once the job is done, the threat comes to Hogwarts as we see this in the end of the film, and Harry is no longer safe. The transition in the climax is extraordinary. The transition throughout the entire film is extraordinary, and once we know the dark secret that we learn about in the last film," The Half-Blood Prince" is the most fascinating film of the series. We see Tom Riddle's childhood, we see all of our favourite characters, and we see magic. The only problem with "Order of the Phoenix" was there was so much big magic violence, that it almost forgot what truly makes Harry Potter magical, and that is the small magic and spells the this film uses. It's pure magic the sixth movie. The movie was spellbinding, and it is my favourite film of the series in front of "Philosopher's Stone." Looking back on the year of 2009, this could be my favourite film of that year. Visually spectacular, and purely magical from start to finish. The most underrated film of the series.
