    Grindhouse

This is a very difficult film for me to rate because it is really two completely opposite movies in one. But, the filmakers packaged them as one, so that is how I must assign my rating. Rodriguez's film, Planet Terror, was near perfect as a fun homage to those 70's double features. But, Tarantino's portion gave me reason to walk out of a film... For the first time in my life. Instead of honouring the Grindhouse style," Death Proof" looks more like a spoof of Tarantino movies. Scene after scene is filled with large chunks of that pointless, but "natural-sounding", Tarantino-esque banter/dialogue he wowed us with in the early 90's. The problem is, years later, it no longer sounds natural. The first 30 minutes of Death Proof sound like they could have been ripped, word for word, from the "Like a Virgin" exchange in 1992's Reservoir Dogs. And, we get it Dude... You like women's feet... We get it!! By the time a foot close-up showed up in 6 straight scenes in a row, I was sure he was meaning to poke fun at his own movies. Then came the obligatory, yet always uncomfortable, Tarantino acting appearance. Then the close-ups of the inner workings of a juke box. By the time I was 45 minutes into it, I just couldn't take another reference to The Director by The Director. I really do feel bad for Robert Rodriguez though. Like many have said before me. My recommendation is that you see "Planet Terror" and the trailers which follow. Then, do yourself a favour, skip the Tarantino spoof.

Why does Tarantino have to change his movie making style?.. Seems to work in every movie he has made... And still is way different than all the holywood cheese directors out there... Death proof was a good grindhouse flick... He had fun with it... He didnt take it that seriously... Because its supposed to be a B MOVIE "BUDGET"... And the dialogue... Is always fresh... The only reason he does the feet thing still is because of people like you... Banter/dialogue... I think its jokes... Does it piss u off that every movie has "red apple cigarettes" in it or a reference to the big kahuna burger? There always in everyflick? Tarantino makes Tarantino movies DEAL WITH IT.. death proof 8/10... Good b movie fun o by the way... Your review is the exact same review I have read in the paper... Im glad Tarantino did a Tarantino MOVIE including "red apple cigarettes" "Tarantino-esque banter/dialogue" "FEET" and of course you no the last one if your smart... Lol... Everything you complain about.
