I have re-visited Gone Girl after first seeing it on its opening night, leaving me more drained the 2nd time round. G G affected me more deeply than I would care to admit. I wanted to pay very close attention to every word and weigh every action and reaction we encounter, so did it engross me on this morbid psychological level. Rosamund Pike as the wife is so convincing in her twisted ways that it becomes utterly chilling. I have a problem with people who find this film lacking in all moral and social concerns. This is a film based on fiction... FACT: Our world is full of petty to the most horrendous of serious crimes. To call GONE GIRL irresponsible is to fail to recognize that our society is indeed very corrupt and almost bankrupt of any moral fibre. The proof can be seen on any local television network or on these missing persons programs which usually result in horrific murder. How can one blame a film for what is intrinsically wrong with contemporary society? I previously gave Gone Girl a 9... I think it's a brilliant film and have upped it to a 10. David Fincher is a cinematic genius.
