The cast is oscar worthy. The story isn't bad. Then why did I have such a hard time keeping my interest afloat in what would otherwise be a sure fire hit of acting extravaganza, superb characters, & a memorable piece of filmography. Perhaps the manner in which the story was told was one I was not particularly attuned to. Regardless, it goes without saying that I regretably cannot recommend this film.

I think your problem is in understanding the complexity of character in film as well as not being specific enough in defining the nature of film you happen to be viewing. You state as much in a lot of your little reviews. Most times you just write a line, perhaps 2 or 3 at most and what you write can refer to any number of films. For example, I didn't care for God's Pocket but gave my reasons. With this film you first of all have to understand that it's a BLACK COMEDY or the film doesn't work for you or won't make any sense, which it didn't for you. Instead of writing so many one line reviews try and concentrate on critiquing something in a fuller fashion giving better reasons for your score. I just about had a fit when I saw 790 reviews. When I saw them I could see why. Many of mine are an entire page long. I think I better start trimming my reviews somewhat as it takes a good long while to write a great critique. Happy Holidays!
I do write many one or two line reviews. However I do write longer ones as well. I recently made one for Birdman which I enjoyed tremendously. That's the thing about reviews, trying to write a lot about something that didn't mean much to you is not really in my genes so to speak. Besides the most likely use of the rating is in the overall score so I am as honest as can be in rating my overall experience. I've been writing here for over 10 years. Films that get longer reviews are films that mean something to me or films that many people don't see and for which I'm the only reviewer! Thanks for taking the time to read through it though! I do appreciate knowing that people do take the time because I certainly do and I really love movies. Happy holidays!!!
