This movie sure has a real bite to it. I have to say as a fan of the original "Fright Night", this was a well put together remake of a true horror classic. You can't help but be instantly drawn into the first opening scene with a view of the suburban town, giving you that feeling of isolation in the middle of nowhere. I thought that was very cool. The story itself is fresh and simple, although not quite like the original, it bears a few similarities, but has a new take and style. There's just the right amount of suspense, humor, and good scares throughout. The film is well paced and has a nice length. Lots of great, riveting action too. It never seems to let up for a second. The fun and surprises keep coming at full tilt. Also, the cinematography is beautiful in this picture. Oh, and the special effects are amazing, and I enjoyed the 3D experience. The acting too is really good, though a bit cheesy in places, but that's all part of the fun. At some point it felt so typically 80's. I especially enjoyed Colin Farrell's stellar performance as Jerry. He played the lead vampire to a tee, and was at times very menacing and scary... in a seductive sort of way. I found his character to be unpredictable, you just didn't know what he'd do next. As for the transformation scenes, they are great as well... very realistic, but the vampire attacks are insane, and in fact quite vicious. Lots of blood spatter, but that's all part of the effect. I also thought David Tennant was exceptionally funny and remarkable as Peter Vincent. Anton Yelchin was a good choice of portraying the character of Charlie Brewster. He did a fine job. All-around great performances from the other cast members as well. Also, I liked Chris Sarandon's appearance (from the original) and thought he had an amazing cameo. Lastly, while this movie may not even come close to the 1st Fright Night, I still enjoyed it. In my personal opinion it was better than most remakes and very entertaining. Overall, a great thrill ride for new and old vampire fans. Go see it now!
