This film really disappointed me. I hardly learned anything useful. It could have been shortened to 20 minutes without any loss of detail. The section on the impact of last names was just filler without any startling conclusions. The part dealing with the causes of crime reduction in the 1990s failed to make a convincing case. I recently attended a lecture given by the man who helped New York City drastically reduce its crime rate and his talk was much more informative. In the last segment offering monetary incentives to students just seems wrong when you should be really hiring inspirational teachers who work with exciting course materials. No consideration is made for students who have lower IQs. Students should strive to get 100% in their courses not just As which means you have failed to master 1 out of 5 concepts. I am still proud to this day for getting 100% in the final of my geography course in high school after studying for an entire weekend. In this film being rewarded for getting Cs where you have failed to comprehend 1/3 of the subject material makes no sense. Parents are spending lots of money to have their kids attend private schools where there is more discipline. The smartest parents are home schooling their kids to ensure an optimal learning environment.
