I'm not a monkey person, but I went to see it anyway because I figured it was the best pick of the litter on an otherwise boring Tuesday. I wasn't impressed, but I'm not really factoring in credit for the cinematic effort in producing the film. There was something about it that bothered me, though I can't quite put my finger on it. Was it the obviously fake fur? Was it the gratuitous "monkeys have feelings too" message? Was it the narrow range of the actors' presentations? I don't know, but I try to be objective with my ratings so I'm giving it a 7 because I'm sure the production effort was enormous. I'm certainly not motivated to see the sequel (and one is obviously in the works judging by this movie's pointless and unimaginative ending, ) but like I said, I'm really not a monkey person.
