Clint Eastwood does it again! What a gifted director, always getting what he needs out of his casts. That being said, I don't think Angelina Jolie's performance is the Oscar-winning performance the buzz is talking about. She is good, and if Kim Bassinger can win for L. A. Confidential, then maybe Angelina should win... but I won't get into the politics of the Oscars here! Kudos to John Malkovich for yet another superb performance! Without a doubt one of the best character actors in the business!! Based on a true story, this movie runs well over 2 hours. It does have a bit of a drag in pacing at one point, but then picks up again and tighthens up in its final 30 minutes or so. The cinematography is excellent, as always with Clint behind the camera. The music is just right. More kudos to Clint Eastwood who wrote it and plays it. Is there anything this guy can't do? This is a good movie, and it is worth seeing. But you have to be in the mood for a nice, slow moving story. As well, a little warning to be ready for some pretty gruesome visuals. If you have issues watching movies that deal with child abduction and/or child abuse, this one may not be for you. It was harder to watch than I would have thought. A strong 7/10 in my book.
