    Brubaker

As violent a prison film I've seen with any semblance to a convincing reality. In fact, many elements of this feature truly push the envelope in terms of 1980 cinéma. Robert Redford is Brubaker, in a very uncharacteristic role. The exquisite Jane Alexander along with the younger Morgan Freeman and David Keith lend excellent supporting roles. Stuart Rosenberg's 1980 drama has many unsavoury elements and for whatever reason has not aged too well as a film. It's hardly a film most would ever associate with the younger Robert Redford.
