Not every movie has to follow the good ol' satisfying Hollywood formula. Some of the best films are the exact opposite. The Hours, Another Year, Friends With Money. It doesn't have to have a twist and a tearful reconciliation like in No Strings Attached. "I have to warn you, if you come any closer, I will never let you go!" What cheese! This is about real life, which means that every situation is unique. It's a story in two parts of a couple - both connected through flashbacks, several years apart. One is filled with optimism, excitement and potential, the other - with regret, disappointment and routine. A look at what might happen with a "love at first sight" under these unique circumstances. It begs the question of whether love alone is enough. The viewer is the perfect bystander. Not all is revealed, but just enough to realize early on that this union may be heading for the inevitable. I left feeling disappointed, hurt and upset for the characters. Wondering what really happened... Just as I would have felt if they were my friends. This is not entertainment, this is an experience, as someone had mentioned before. Highly recommended.
